Premise issues

Had a hard time with just about all of the subject matter, the reactions by the focus character group. People don't respond to stress this way and the evil, murderous intent and practice by what we are to guess is a government and military sponsored group is just as unlikely and over the top. Lots of editing errors and misspelled words. All in all a difficult and unfulfilling read. Also, as a retired military man with 30 years of decorated service I am offended by this writers treatment of all things military in this story. We are patriots, not the murderous indifferent animals you portray here!

Margo Berman’s tacktikPAK series is amazing. If you’re someone like me that used to think creativity is something you’re born with, I am happy to tell you that you are wrong! You can definitely become more creative if you put it to practice. This module serves as a “how-to” to unleash and foster a creative mind. Read it and follow what it says and you will begin to see a change in the way you think.

As for those of you who feel creativity comes easier to you, I still recommend you take the opportunity to read it and strengthen your creative brain. This volume in the series suggests tips and exercises that will keep your right brain stimulated.

I sincerely recommend checking out the other modules on the tactikPAK series. I took Professor Berman at FIU and she is truly an amazing teacher, but also her content in her work is amazing as well. A delightful little mystery

Falling for Cindy Fellars, is a short piece of fiction by Regina Puckett. I received a free review copy. Puckett covers a lot of ground in a very few words as she describes Cindy’s growing relationship with Andrew, and her fear of her evil stepmother, Margaret.
While I thought the ending a bit too neat (I won’t spoil the story for you by describing it), it was still a delightful mystery.

It took me one shot to read this short story, I made one status update and went right back to reading. I was going to clean a little then return to read again, but I had to know what Andrew wanted to know. What happened to her parents? Why is she being a mother to her twin sisters? You see, Cindy was walking through the university parking lot in the evening heading to her car when she sees a shoe, she usually wouldn't pick a shoe up, this one looked expensive, she picked it up then heard something. She wanted to ignore it, she couldn't, she saw two men beating a third man up, she ran toward them with mace in her hands, one man ran, the other she sprayed. The man went down, she called 911 and stayed with the man that was hurt until they came. The man she sprayed tried to get up and she kicked him back down. Cindy went to the hospital the next day with the twins to give the shoe back to its owner. When she saw Andrew and how nice looking he was she was more than happy she did what she did to help him. He still needed her help because he didn't have a way to leave the hospital, the crooks took his wallet, for some reason his friends were busy, he couldn't take a cab. Cindy invited him to lunch with her and the twins. He really wanted to pay her back for her generosity. Download this awesome short story to find out if Andrew gets to know Cindy and the twins. Falling For Cindy Fellars

I managed to devour this short story in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
It all starts when the leading protagonist, Cindy Fellars is leaving her night class in a mad hurry to relieve the babysitter of her twin sisters. However her plans soon change as she stumbles upon an expensive shoe and hears signs of struggle coming from the nearby parking lot. Without further hesitation Cindy slides the safety off her Taser gun and goes in search of where the loud moans are coming from, unaware she is about to witness a brutal mugging of an innocent man. Cindy fires her Taser at one of the muggers who she manages to incapacitate, however the other mugger soon flees the scene while Cindy manages to alert the police and an ambulance crew for the unknown victim, unaware she has saved a man who will then go on to save her and change the course of her entire existence.

This is a delightful little mystery with a number of unexpected twists. The dialogue itself was easy to follow and understandable which leaves me to conclude this is written by a very competent author and a real credit to Regina Puckett.

After a view pages it is clear that S.J. is not only a highly experienced Astrologer but also a keen observer and brilliant with play on words. This book is instructive and entertaining at the same time. I had a good lough and even got red cheeks when I read about my own Mars/ Venus signs. I felt caught and uncovered….I even discovered one or two characteristics I was not aware of yet…
Beginners and advanced students will find solid information and will also benefit by increasing their self-awareness and understanding their partner’s affections. This book is absolutely worth each cent.

it's good. " But that usually doesn't work

I read Cantata a couple months ago and have been mulling over how to review it. My impulse is to push it on everyone and say "read it, it's good." But that usually doesn't work.
So... The main character is Iskior a sea captain forced by family death into prominence at court. He doesn't DO court. He's the sort of person who gets things done. Court is the sort of place where appearances matter more than his sort of accomplishments, and everything has to be done artistically, complete with song. He doesn't fit. THe narrative is through the eyes of one of his servants who doesn't know what to make of him, and tries to help by cluing him in, when the servant has a clue. But it isn't done to suggest the Lord doesn't know anything, so... there's a fair amount of dry humor in the getting around that sort of social stricture. Iskhior does succeed in making a place for himself and just by being himself shifting things for the better in the Empire, avoids the marriage that everyone thinks he's been angling for, while providing an enjoyable read with songs, poetry, sea voyages, painting and clever people.

The setting is tropical, in my opinion vaguely African inspired, but both setting and culture, as far as I can tell are very much original. Iskhior had his position of authority on the ship not due to connections, but character. People choose their leaders at that level. There are lords and an Emperor, who inherit power in the standard way, but for most of the population the important people are the ones whom the populace chooses to do things, lead, whatever. It's not a structure I've run across elsewhere. Seeing that type of character shoved into the different culture of the court and working out how to get things done without appalling the new Powers That Be he has to deal with is a pleasure.

four stars, because I reserve 5 stars for once in a decade blow me away reads.

Magnificent comedy of manners and romance in a fantasy world. A rough sea captain is is over his head when the death of his brother forces him into the labyrinth of a government run by good manners run amok. Utterly delightful. I just finished the second book, and dived straight into the novella. Every. Single. One. Is. Magnificent.

I'm reading out of my comfort zone here. Usually I'm reading action adventure set in ancient magical lands. I just finished a more or less straight up romance set in an ancient and magical near Chinese kingdom. Great romance, plenty adventurous.

About the Author
Maurice Leblanc (1864–1941) was best known for his tales featuring the gentleman thief Arsène Lupin. If you like mystery you will enjoy this work
The author is quite a talented writer
And The description of the english countryside is so descriptive

you are actually transported there
This writer has a great talent for the use of the english language in describing weather, setting the scene, forming the plot, progressing the plot forward, character development, story development etc
I had as much fun reading this mystery as I did the first time I read Nancy drew years ago
This is a book that is hard to put down and one you do not want to end
Luckily their are others in the series, and I can not wait to read them
In the future I hope this author continues to write in the mystery genre

Wow! Enid Blyton meets Paranormal

This book begins with an introduction. For those readers who have not had the pleasure of reading one of Enid Blyton’s books about boarding school, get an idea about the British schooling system and the various grades and their names. I found this very friendly and I hoped that this would enable the readers to envision the students, their ages and hence their personalities.

The book introduces the reader to one of the most likeable characters I have read in a book, conspiracy theorist, lively and perceptive Poppy Farrell, who is starting out as a junior in Blight Academy.

The author does a great job of describing Blight Academy. You end up getting the chills as you recreate a creepy, very Adams Family like house which is scary to look at.

The author’s lucid and sparkling description of the Headmistress, Mrs. Wick, the disciplinarian, Mrs. Grimshaw and Poppy’s roommate Clair, instantly connect the reader to them. It makes you feel as if you are right with them.

Things aren’t altogether that right at Blight Academy. Poppy gets accosted by a student at a lone station and is warned to not go to Blight Academy. For some reason, every teacher at Blight’s is against Poppy. There are dark forces around. Sixth Form students shadow the First Formers and they take it quite far. Is there dark magic involved? Are lives of students taken for not being a part of the game? When souls are slaughtered in the name of the Devil, is even Britain’s foremost academy a safe place?

This book has all of this and more! It is a perfect accompaniment on a day when you want to take a trip down memory lane. Reading about school will make you remember your own school days, but the paranormal thriller that it is, it will snap your attention and hold on to it, until you finish the book!

I absolutely loved Poppy!! She is such an amazing character! It made me wish there were a lot more books in this series so I could have more of her. She is one of those characters from books, who you end up liking instantly and who stays with you for a while after you read about her.

At some point, I was actually a little scared. The book makes such a vivid world open up in front of you, it takes you into that world where there are so many unanswered questions and characters are so layered.

I thoroughly enjoyed this really spooky gothic thriller about a creepy girl's school deep in the wilds of the English countryside. Atmospheric from the word go, the author did a great job of slowly building up the suspense & I was totally drawn in. Highly recommended.

I've ready everything Browne has written, and this one ranks at the top. One of the few books I have read more than twice. It's the kind of adventure novel you read when you're down with the flu for 3 days and can take it from start to finish--you won't want to read it in several sittings!

Mixed in with suspense and adventure is the message that diamonds are not the only "blood" gem marketed in the world and that people will go to any extreme to hold in their hand the key to a brighter future for themselves and the people they care about. If you enjoy reading about adventure in exotic places in a well written suspense novel that will leave you guessing until the last page, give this one a try.

Fantastic to the extreme!

This one is just another timeless artpiece of Gerald A. Brown at his best in his prime time, simply wonderful, period. The movie was also not bad. Readers who failed to read his books would not understand what a real thriller could be achieved by a great writer. Unique writing style, amazing plot and scenario, outstanding charaters...the praise could go on and on.

Ezra Zydan is a fantasy author who currently resides in Alabama. When he isn't spending his spare time writing, he's attending college full time, and is studying to become a Foreign Language Translator. Looking forward to Book II

The Good: Events of the story take place over a short period of time following several different characters so it doesn't take very long before events start to come together and tie the various characters to each other. Characters have noticeable differences, with some more headstrong and others more easygoing, and events of the story throw them all together, whether they like it or not. Overall an interesting read that combines reality with elements of a fictional world coming to terms with recently revealed supernatural beings while opposing forces race against time for ancient relic that could decide the fate of the world.

The Bad: While most of the main and supporting characters had a more clearly developed personality, some felt more like an after thought in regards to both their personality and inclusion in the story(though this is something that will be addressed in Book II according to the author). Other than that my only issues were more personal preference, such as the occasional redundancy. Nothing serious enough to detract from the story.

The Ugly: Clearly not a standalone book that noticeably sets the stage for bigger and better events in the yet to be released sequel and, as such, feels somewhat anticlimactic at the end, even with other events coming full circle. However, with the anticipation for a sequel instilled and the knowledge that said sequel is being actively worked on was also a deciding factor in the rating.

Probably one of the best books I've read in quite some time.

As a debut, it's pretty astounding. I loved every aspect about it, and how the author left plenty of room for expanded lore and progression of the series. I adore the characters and overall writing style. I never once hit a dull spot and I can't wait for the follow-ups.

I'd recommend this to anyone without a second thought.

If I had any complain, it was that it wasn't longer. I typically love stories I can really sink my teeth into and read for a long time before finishing, but if anything this just wet my appetite for the next installment.

I think it was a good start in writing

I think it was a good start in writing, but it wasn't the best the author could do. The plot was a bit hard to find, and there was a lot of confusion about the personalities of the characters. It wasn't put together as well as it could have been. I would have to go through the whole story to give the best advice on what to fix, unfortunately. But I still think I'll be buying the rest of the books in the series to see where things go from here. I have faith this author can grow.

Sad to read book 3

When the last book was released, I COULD NOT convince myself to start reading it. I wanted to read it because the first two were amazing, but I didn't want the series to be over. I was right, THE BOOK WAS AMAZING! I cried like a baby more than once and couldn't put my Kindle down. I even got in trouble at work for reading on the clock. :)

The first book was a bit odd to adjust to the different "voices", but once I realized the different tones and personalities, it was a smooth reading experience.

Overall, this was SUCH A GOOD SERIES! I only hope to find more books to live up to the thrill from this trilogy.

Amazing!

Wow! I don't know where to begin. I've read the trilogy and all three books were fantastic. The story had me laughing, cheering, crying, rooting them on, yelling, and I was covered in goose bumps a few times. I read hundreds of books a year..HUNDREDS, but none have had me run through the emotional gammet like this. Unique with great detail and you could really feel like your there. This would make a sensational movie in my opinion. It may take some people a few paragraphs to get use to the writing style, but it's smooth sailing after that. I would recommend this book to everyone as it has a little of everything in it.

This is a thrilling exotic sad/ happy love story I as hooked by the first book of the series and re-read it all the time LOVE IT.I wish she would do another book on Catherine and Alek and the crew so we know what happens after they are reunited again my favorite books ever LOVE LOVE
