About the Author
Craig T. Albanese, M.D., M.B.A., is the vice president of quality and performance improvement at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University. Craig is also a pediatric general surgeon, professor of surgery, and holds the John A. and Cynthia Fry Gunn Directorship of Surgical Services at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital.
Darin Aaby, M.S., is the executive director of JWA Consulting and has been a practitioner and consultant on lean transformation for more than twenty years. Previously, he was senior lean sensei of the World Wide Amazon Customer Excellence Systems. Prior to Amazon, Darin had positions of increasing responsibility at Genie / Terex, where he served as lean transformation director for their operations worldwide. Darin studied at Toyota domestically and in Japan.
Terry Platchek, M.D., is the medical director for performance improvement at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University as well as the fellowship director of Stanford University’s Clinical Excellence Research Center. This book covers the lean healthcare waterfront

It's pretty much all here in the book and quite accessible, to the extent that 21st Century - Toyota Way - management practice fits in a book. It's obvious the authors have a ton of priceless in-the-Gemba experience, which must greatly enrich their consulting (we can hope that Drs. Albanese and Platchek wind up as senior execs and directors sooner rather than later). If they only could explain how to best address the key executive leadership/board of directors issues they describe as crisply and imaginatively as they demonstrate the thinking and practices for flow and value in daily work, then the book would be perfect. Of course, this is a very tall an order when received wisdom for healthcare enterprise success pulls executive and board focus toward "going big or going home." Even Toyota got into trouble when they grew too rapidly.

Good for visual management system overview

The content is good, but is very restrictive to what a particular consulting group feels is the "right" way to implement Lean in healthcare settings. They use an example of moving from playing hockey (randonmess) to ballet (predictability), and I think they could've used a better analogy. And they seem to indicate that getting above a "line" to move from their level 2 to higher levels of Lean is some huge barrier to overcome. This sets up the reader to consider it an impossible task and this could prevent people from taking on the work. Overall, I feel they've complicated something the Japanese have done much more simply, but it's still very useful information and provides good direction. What they are lacking is more information about methods. They seem to push the installation of visual management systems, but what about all of the issues those systems raise to the surface? How do you go about fixing those?

original and fun

My Thoughts-
I so love this author. His stories are amazing and original, and Chum keeps that ball rolling. First off, the main character Levi is a true thirteen-year-old. Somehow Sidwell must have channeled his inner child because the voice of Levi is dead on. At first I couldn't stop thinking, why would this boy get on a ship with no other information? Then I realized, it is exactly what this character would do, what most thirteen-year-olds would do. He wouldn't care about the consequences. Of course, as his character grows, we see a hero form and again and again, this boy is willing to sacrifice himself to save others. I love good, well written characters, and Levi is full of depth and growth, while still being a teenager.

I have to admit that the first half of the book is my favorite. The mystery surrounding the reality show and the chum dolls is so intriguing. I couldn't stop reading. I had to know what obstacle would pop up next and who would get thrown overboard. The tension is perfect and the quickness in which the contestants turn on each other is heartbreaking. I was ready for a book full of bobby traps and riddles, but that's when things change. The reader is then thrown into the role of TV show turned reality, as Levi and a group of submarine pirates take on the evil pirates of Chum. The book lost a lot of its tension here, but the story is so absolutely original that I had to admire Sidwell's craftsmanship.

And the little chum dolls, they are so cute. Somehow he made me care for these strange yellow beings. I was ready to believe they were some type of alternative life form and was so sad to see them go down with the ship. I wanted someone to rescue them.

A Chummy Book

This has to be the most creative book I've read since Evertaster. They are written by the same amazing author. This book is laced with pop-culture references and realistic characters. The dilemma fits with the story as well and is strange and cool. Chum has funny moments, serious moments that are intense when they should be, and this book includes brilliant characters. Buy this book and both Evertaster books, you will not be disappointed.

one of the best books ever

this book is really good because I get the sense of adventure when i'm reading it. and I feel like i'm there on a high tech ship and I understand the other charaters really good like how I can relate to them and sometimes they remind me of some kids in my class. like how theres marcus the kid who wants to become famous on the internet by making videos. and glamour sequins who is a teen who just cares about herself and whould do anything to be famous on tv. just like some girls I know at my school who really don't know about important things but just wants to be famous. and Levi the main charater the hero of the story. he's a lot like the other charaters but different he's smart, brave and all the other traits a hero should have. and at the ending I wasn't expecting for that to happen I thought it was going to be a regular book but boy, was I wrong this book has a really good plot and plot tiwst (typo) and a good set of charaters. I think there should be more books like these out there in libarys. one that makes you think 'I'm going on adventure!' and you just want to read more.

16 separate well-designed encounters, CR 3 to 23.

This is not a module or a homogeneous settings description but a collection of independent encounters with various undeads.
Not bad as a safety belt in case your players run astray from the planned events in the campaign you are leading, or when you need a quick-slapped together encounter of a given level to bring them to the next level before attacking a more arduous part of your campaign.
On average the encounters are reasonably designed with excellent location maps, with CR ranging from 3 to 23 (CR 2 for some side kicks).
The printing is excellent, the binding is glued, durability is average, the art is world-class.
This amounts to about $1 per encounter, each typically on 4 pages.
I do not regret buying it as I will likely use one or the other (or extrapolate form them) however if what you are looking for is a complete campaign or if you are willing to adapt heavily the material, you should consider investing in the Rise of the Runelord anniversary edition that runs for little more than twice the price of this small book (62 pages) and that provides world-class campaign.
I might procure another two or three from the same collection to be ready for every eventuality but that should be it.

Nice Sherlock Holmes short story

This is another superb short story with our main character, detective Sherlock Holmes. The plot is interesting: Violet Hunter visits Holmes, asking whether she should accept a job as governess; a job with very strange conditions. She is enticed by the phenomenal salary which, as originally offered, is £100 a year, later increased to £120 when Miss Hunter balks at having to cut her long hair short (her previous position paid £48 a year). This is only one of many peculiar provisos to which she must agree. The employer, Jephro Rucastle, seems pleasant enough, yet Miss Hunter obviously has her suspicions.
She announces to Holmes, after the raised salary offer, that she will take the job, and Holmes suggests that if he is needed, a telegram will bring him to Hampshire, where Mr Rucastle's country estate, the Copper Beeches, is situated.
After a fortnight, Holmes receives such a message, beseeching him to come and see her in Winchester. Miss Hunter tells them one of the most singular stories that they have ever heard. Mr. Rucastle would sometimes have Miss Hunter wear a particular electric blue dress and sit in the front room reading, with her back to the front window. She began to suspect that she was not supposed to see something outside the window, and a small mirror shard hidden in her handkerchief showed her that she was right: there was a man standing there on the road looking towards the house.
At another such session, Mr Rucastle told a series of funny stories that made Miss Hunter laugh until she was quite weary. The one astonishing thing about this was that Mr. Rucastle not only did not laugh, but did not even smile.
There were other unsavoury things about the household. The six-year-old child that she was supposed to look after was astonishingly cruel to small animals. The servants, Mr. and Mrs. Toller, were quite a sour pair. A great mastiff was kept on the property, and always kept hungry. It was let out to prowl the grounds at night and Miss Hunter was warned not to cross the threshold after dark. Also, Toller, who was quite often drunk, was the only one who had any control over the dog.
There was also the odd discovery by Miss Hunter of what appeared to be her own tresses in a locked drawer. Upon checking her own luggage, however, they turned out to be another woman's, but identical in every way to Miss Hunter's, even to the unusual colour.
However, the most disturbing thing of all about the household was the mystery wing. Miss Hunter had observed that there was a part of the house that did not seem to be used. The windows were either dirty or shuttered, and once she saw Mr Rucastle coming out of the door leading into the wing looking most perturbed. Later, he explained that he used the rooms as a photographic darkroom, but Miss Hunter was not convinced.
When he is drunk, Toller leaves the keys in the door to the mystery wing. Miss Hunter sneaks in. She finds the place spooky and when she spots a shadow moving on the other side of a locked door, she panics and runs out, into Mr Rucastle's waiting arms. Mr. Rucastle does not reproach her, instead he pretends to comfort her.
However, he overdoes his act and alerts her suspicions, causing her to claim that she saw nothing. In an instant, his expression changes from comfort to rage.
With the aid of the great detective, it is discovered that someone has been kept a prisoner in the forbidden wing. The purpose of hiring Miss Hunter becomes clear: her presence is to convince the man watching from the road that Rucastle's daughter Alice, previously unknown to Miss Hunter, and whom she resembles, is no longer interested in seeing him.
Watson rescuing Rucastle from his mastiff Holmes, Watson and Miss Hunter find Miss Rucastle's secret room empty; Rucastle arrives and thinks the trio has helped his daughter escape and goes to fetch the mastiff to set upon the trespassers. Unfortunately for Rucastle, the dog has been accidentally starved for longer than usual and attacks him instead. Watson shoots the dog with his revolver. Later, Mrs. Toller confirms Holmes' theory about Rucastle's daughter and reveals that when Alice came of age she was to receive an annuity from her late mother's will; Rucastle tried to force his daughter to sign control of the inheritance over to him which only resulted in Alice becoming ill with brain fever; hence, the cut hair. Rucastle then tried to keep Alice away from her fiancé by locking her up in the mystery wing and hiring Miss Hunter to unknowingly impersonate Alice. Rucastle's daughter escapes with her fiancé, and they marry soon after. Watson notes, at the end of the story, that Holmes appears to have been drawn to Miss Hunter. However, to his disappointment, Holmes does not show any interest in Miss Hunter after the mystery has been solved, which was the real force behind his feelings. Rucastle survives as an invalid, kept alive solely by his second wife. Miss Hunter later becomes principal of a girls' school, where, according to Watson, she meets with "considerable success".
I recommend this short story to all readers that appreciate a well written mystery story, mainly when it involves Sherlock Holmes clever solutions!

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. My basic policy on being ‘honest’ is: 4 stars = I liked it a lot but am trying to appear discerning. If there was anything that bugged me but I still liked it = 3 stars. If I disliked it, I won’t post a review, unless the author is famous and already has hundreds of reviews. So, adhering to my aforementioned policy, I was going to give this book 4 stars. But then I thought, why? I genuinely loved this book. It was an unusual read for me because I only read fiction, with the exception of artist biographies. But I was immediately intrigued with Blakemont’s book because Gothic is a subject close to my heart. I like dark settings, darker characters, intrigue, angst…obsession. In a straightforward and engaging way, this book will tell you how the Gothic genre has evolved and, more importantly, how it has survived for 250 years. If you are a fan of Gothic, whether it is in literature, film, music or fashion, give this book a read. I found myself enlightened and thoroughly entertained. Though the writing is somewhat academic, it moves quickly and has an underlying sense of fun. For example, check out the tips on Gothic fashion.

Excellent!! 5-STARS!!! Blakemont does a fantastic job of summarizing centuries of Gothic works into this concise and highly informative book. Blakemont covers the entire spectrum of Gothic; from literature, film, music, art, to even political and or social issues of individuals who openly identify themselves as "Goths." While there are many books out there on the subject of "The Gothic," I have yet to read any that feature as much vision, informed research and are as current as this superlative Gothic "encyclopedia." Highest Recommendation!

Brandon's story....

Well Brandon's story was kind of his story in the beginning but then it turned into Nova's big attitude in the end.
Brandon hears the call and leaves home seeking his mate. He searches for the one he is made for and the one made for him(ain't that sweet). However on the way to his true mate he stops for a quickie & snack(some random girl that turns out to have like blood as well, this part here not so sweet). After his quickie he realizes (oops I forgot something..oh yeah my mate, I was searching for my mate) his mate is in trouble so off he goes to find the true love he momentarily forgot about. **I'm having a hard time with this one y'all**
Okay so they both yearn for each other, seek each other, feel deeply connected on some level but get this now when they finally meet she acts totally uninterested and he wishes he had a diff choice in the matter??????? Really now???
She/Nova has a b-word attitude for dumb reasons but mind you she has been waiting for this guy her entire life and recognizes that yes they have finally found each other but she is all attitude, didn't quite make sense to me. NOVA your Grammy that you dearly loved and lost told you to hold out for "the special man" and you did just that but when he arrives you're being a b-word. (I'm shaking my head)
Well Nova the b-word pretty much takes over the story from there...gotta say I didn't enjoy this story as much as I did all of the other books(Siren book 1 & 2, Druid, Token, Brolach). This one is my least fav but I still give it 5 stars because it was a good book but the main characters really didn't seem to have a true bond to one another like the other stories.
It left me hanging at the end which I'm no fan of but I am a total fan of Marata's work so I'll just be hanging on to see what happens(my fingers are cramping already).
Kind of want Brandon with somebody else right now. I don't really care for the contradiction that is Nova right now(read it and you'll see what I mean). The overall storyline left me feeling a little lost regarding the characters that I'd previously read about in the other books and series.
Still good writing by Marata and like I said I'm hanging on(cramped fingers and all) to see what happens next.
Can't wait.....

I am mixed about this book

I love the Druid series and the Siren continuation up until this book. I am very mixed, I loved and hated it.

What I hated.
There are changes in the story that make this book read as an alternative reality to books 1-7.5 of the Druids and books 1-2 of the Siren. Bringing a 5 star story to a 3.5 star story.
¡¡¡SPOILERS!!! On the changes.
There seems to be a 2-3 year gap from book 1 to 3 , Siren , that is not supported, and the time lines become confusing. This while annoying I can deal with.
Thing that did annoy me, to the point I almost didn't finish it.
Brandon 's unique circumstance on how his Mer blood was pulled out, has changed. Changing Beau and Aubree's story.
Holly and Kier's back story changed a lot. Changing a big chunk of the Druids 1-7.
Josiah, Andrew and Elias are all alive and well and one of them my be the father of Holly 's unborn twins or it could be Kier. WTF!
Zach seems to no longer exists. You might as well through out the whole Druid series.
Holly has become a ditzy blond.
Aubree is no longer the kick ass martial artist with a killer sense of humor and a kind heart.
At least Rachael seems to be the same.
All three of the women of Druid are presented as sex slave, baby makers to their indulgent Vampire mates. Again WTF!

These kind of changes to the core story have me seriously reconsidering continuing with it. I will read Druids 8 and 9 as well as Brolach first, since I already bought them. I did liked Brolach. I presume that Con, Ember and Kane's story will continue with the Demon books. I am hoping for more of Lucus and Alexander. The Demon vs Mer had my attention.

What I did like.
The overall story is good, 5 Stars. I liked the blood calling to blood and Brandon and Nova dreaming of each other. The hint that Brandon and Nova are something special. Crazy Druid Priests and maybe some Were's. The characters are interesting.
Brandon, I love, he is a mix of the best of his his dad Beau, with a good dose of him mom, Aubree, a least as they were in the Druid series. I am not sure about them now. They were my favorite couple.
Nova I don't really like and deserves a to stupid to live award. Brandon deserves better. Hell so does Ren and Mikhail. For someone who knows who and what she is, the dangers to her and and has even been lucky enough to have a protector she sure does stuff that just plain stupid. She starts off great, street smart and aware of the dander that surrounds her. Then she becomes willfully stupid and utterly lacking in common sense. I can only hope she gets Better.
Ren, is an interesting character. He sure has had his hands full with Nova, and loves her anyway. Love can be blind, deaf and stupid. I do want to see more of him.
Mikhail seems a bit like Constantine in his back story without the sadistic aspect. He reminds me of Cole. I want to see more of him too.
Damon, the little tid bit of werewolf, he really has me interested.
Kellen, is just over the top.
These are the key players. I see the potential, just not sure I can reconcile the core changed to were the series is going. It is very hard when the story that brought you to this point no longer exists.

Hot, sexy, quick read

I have been following this series which is a continuation from the druid series. So this part of the sirens series is about Brandon who first has to find his mate, then saves her, to then have to share her with three other guys. one of the guys being a reaper that had kidnapped her initially and the other her protector of a few years aside from brandon. The adventure is within expectations.

I edited my rating from a 2 to a 4 because of the changes done with the character mix up originally printed. I loved the druid series which is the base to this new series. To me is a nice quick read to help relax yourself. And the sex was burning my kindle.

The Training Runners with Potential

I hope you find this review USEFUL.

What I would have liked to know before I bought this book. (minor spoilers)

1. What type of book is it: adventure, action, drama, etc? This is a high school drama set in a sci-fi space combat military academy. Emphasis on high school. (They are supposed to be in college but sure don't act like it.)

2. What is the story about, in general? The story is about Austin. He is scouted into the Legion Navy by the use of a space combat simulator masqueraded as a game. He is never told that he was going into the military, until it is too late. The book focuses on the recruitment process, the subsequent indoctrination and all the high school type angst drama you can think off. Don't expect a lot of action. For those who've seen the "Last Star Fighter", it's the same general premise with a lot less excitement.

3. What/Who is the target audience? Teenagers and young adults. The mentality of the characters and the story focus does not evolve enough to target the older adult audience.

4. How is the proofreading? The proofreading is well above average, but there are some obvious mistakes here and there.

5. Is there character development or exploration? Yes, there is a lot of character development and exploration. I find the main protagonist to have solid merits and flaws. I also enjoy the change of his development from closet loser to ambitious high school senior. After that point, Austin becomes an intergalactic high school senior ... in a military college? I know, very odd thing to say, but I mean it. He doesn't grow up, even after being a spectator to horrible things. I do not feel a lot of empathy with the secondary characters, but it is not because they aren't fleshed out. I simply don't feel that I get to know them very well.

6. Are the characters likable? There are many angles to think about on this. The protagonist, while alone, thinks and develops as an individual. When in a group, the protagonist usually devolves into high school clique mentality. This makes for uncompelling character synergy as the characters don't grow on the reader because, though rounded as individuals with backgrounds, they are socially inept.

Secondary characters feel restrained and trapped in rote roles. The story almost becomes formulaic. They DO have secondary character characteristics: background and particular looks that set them apart.

7. Do you have to suspend disbelief? The very PREMISE of this book forces a significant amount of disbelief. First, the line of `a younger mind has an easier time accepting the truth' is outright undermined by TWO scenes. If the revelation had been intentional, I would applaud it and laud praise at the grand deception being played on the characters, but it seemed to be a writing goof (I might be wrong about the goof. That would be AWESOME as it would add levels of intrigue, betrayal and conspiracy). If you want to train space combat fighters, simply recruit older fighter pilots. Use the Legion's super advance medical tech to correct imperfections brought about by age (bad vision, sagging reflexes, etc) and retrain them.

8. Does the story keep its pacing? Yes and no. There is great wonder and discovery within the first 50 percent of this book, and then it stalls. The next 40 percent (I'm using kindle format percentages) is full of high school type drama, predictable angst and `emo' conflict, and the ever silly high school bullying scenes. You'd think they would stop by now, but no. Characters act like fourteen or fifteen years old. The story setting is supposed to be in the military, but it doesn't feel like it. It feels more like being coached as part of a sports team. Heck, it feels like being at camp.

The protagonist is rarely, and I mean this, involved in the action. He's a spectator even when in a star fighter, even when laser beams and missiles fly around him. You will have to wait until the 90 percent mark to see Austin take on enemy fighters with his own skill. That WILL be too little too late for some readers. It was for me.

There are many scenes where the main protagonist REPEATEDLY realizes "this is for real". How many times does he have to realize the same thing? Last, because of the rote roles involved, key scenes became singularly predictable. I wanted to be surprised, but wasn't. In fact, scenes, before the 90 percent mark, were so predictable that even the severity of the outcomes were predictable. Son of a gun!

The reader is provided with the most cursory descriptions of the Star/Galactic Legion. That lack is either a deliberate plot device for some good intrigue and conflict or an accidental omission. I think we'll have to wait for book 2 to determine which.

9. Is the book worth the asking price? The book is $5 and touches on the upper range of the standard ebook price. I honestly feel this is a $4 read.

In conclusion: This is a high school coming of age drama in a sci-fi military space setting. After compelling exposition, the rising action stalls into predictable scenes and `emo' dubiousness. It becomes somewhat dull and I found myself browsing through `action' scenes because of their predictability. The main explanation for the world logic (IE. the reason a game for kids is used to secretly recruit kids as star pilots) is compromised in two different scenes. The military culture is undeveloped and didn't feel professional. The climax is solid, but too little too late. The decreasing action and resolution has a strong message and impact. 'Kudos' on that. The proofreading is above average, but there are some noticeable errors. The price is `ok' and within the standard ebook price, but I feel the stalled pacing merits a $4 price range. Even with the slow pace, this book is a story setting volume that clearly indicates a series or saga. Though I found the book unexciting it DOES have its rare gems. Now that we have hopefully gotten through the tedious training camp, I can see great potential for a thrilling series.

YA Space Saga for Middle Schoolers

This book is clearly targeted towards middle schoolers. It's a "do what you're told, follow the rules and things will work out" story for most of the way.

I would recommend this except for the frequent misuse of "your" and other similar things, which I ignore in books targeted to adults. There's not a single profane word in the book. It came close, though, when the hero "almost swore."

At times, the writing is painfully choppy, but most of the book flows smoothly. The book is completely tactical, and there's no insight into what makes the good guys good. The bad guys are cardboard, but the action is fun.

A very pleasent surprise!

This is another one of those books that I bought on a whim since it popped up in my recommendations. I honestly do not remember if it was on one of my Goodreads friends lists or if I saw it in my Kindle recommendations but in any case, this book was a very pleasant surprise. The previous book that I bought on a whim like this was Cadet and that one was not bad but not really anything to write home about either.

This book is another one of those young person discovers that there are aliens, spaceships and all kinds of great and not so great things out there. I do like those stories so I may be a bit biased from the start. However, this book was certainly one of the better such books that I have read. The author himself classifies this as a young adult story but personally I have to say that it could very well have done with a not so young audience classification.

The story, the writing and the characters are quite well done. One thing I really like about this book is that it does not rush it. It takes its time to develop the story. Many books with this kind of story just rushes over the surprise moments and the learning curve in a few chapters and then all of a sudden our hero is a full fledged starship pilot or something. This book is really spending time building up the story and spends quite a lot of time on the characters and character development. For a good third, or even a bit more, of the book the main character still thinks he is going to a school on Earth for example. The truth is only very slowly revealed. For the reader it is fairly obvious where it is heading of course but then you can deduce that by the title after all.

Even when the truth is revealed the book continues to properly develop the context and the characters. The education continues and you do not become a star fighter pilot overnight in this book. Actually it is not until the very end that Austin earns his wings and the road to that is a bumpy one. This is another good thing with this book. It is not all fun and games. Friends are lost along the way and Austin is not always sure whether he wants to go on or not. In some books these episodes are just forced in to create some thrilling moments which is quite annoying but in this one they come naturally as a part of both the story and the character development.

One thing that felt a bit strange though was that the entire universe seemed to be made up by humans or at least humanoids identical to the ones developed on Earth. The word “alien” is mentioned once in the book and then it is discarded as a stupid question. That did irk me somewhat but it is really a minor thing. The hard code science fiction readers out there might also regret that there is very little science and certainly not much in the form of technical explanations in this book. This book focuses almost entirely on the story and the characters. That is not to say that they wonder about and talk all the time. The book is far from devoid of action, both during the training and the real stuff.

A very pleasant surprise and excellent reading indeed. This book is one where I definitely will pick up the next one if a second book is published.

Isabel Wilkerson's The Warmth of Other Suns is truly a labor of love. It took 15 years to research and write, as she interviewed over 1,200 people. Wilkerson tracked down her subjects at churches, quilting clubs, funerals, family reunions, and others. After preliminary rounds of interviews, she narrowed her search down to 30 people, and then chose the three main subjects who appear in the book. She was racing against the clock to collect as many stories as possible from the migrants, whose numbers were starting to dwindle. Her book even covers the funerals of both George Starling and Robert Pershing Foster.

In order to write her story in a heartfelt manner, Wilkerson recreated Robert Foster's exhausting drive from Louisiana to California. Dr. Foster drove through three states without rest because blacks weren't welcome at any motels in those regions. Wilkerson's trip was cut short by her parents, who insisted she stop before reaching dangerous levels of fatigue. At a particularly perilous tract of the drive, Wilkerson writes that her mother said, "You know he must have been ready to cry right about here."

Quicklet is not Cliff Notes

I purchased this quicklet because our book club chose the book (538 pages) and I didn't think I had time to read it all. I had already read 180 pages when I ordered the quicklet. I wanted it to be more thorough in its synopsis and content like an old "Cliff Notes" that I used once in college. It is not that (only 25 pages)! The real summary of the book is only 6 pages. I did like the information about the author and some interesting facts about the North/South during this time period. It cost $10.99 with shipping which wasn't worth it for me. It did, however, make me find the time to read the entire book. The book "The Warmth of Other Suns" is outstanding.

A longer abreviated version would be better

I can't complain because the reviews said it was much too short. As other said, it should have been longer so one could get more of the emotional and cultural impact of the book. Our book club was reviewing and I was busy with other reading so I decided to buy it anyway. I could tell that those who had read it felt the book was very worthwhile even though it was very long. If I have time to read it at a later date, I plan to read the entire book.
