Not the complete story

I have been reading the entire series and liked every book so far. This one however ended mid story. This should have been titled "Part 1". It is also about half the pages of the previous 4 books. The previous 4 books all ended ytheir story line by the end of the book. Sure they were $2.99 vs $1.99 but honestly I would rather have paid a bit more and gotten the entire story/book instead of buying it in sections. I feel a bit "cheated" with this book. Hopefully Mr Beery will go back to his previous format of one book, one story line.

Great Plot. The Saga Continues

Another great story in the Catherine Kimbridge saga. Overcoming impossible odds is a continuing theme and this time the plot takes you on an incredible journey that is not only surprising, but amazing. As usual the ending leaves you on "the end of your seat" and wanting more. I can't wait for the next adventure.

Meanwhile I am devouring Andrew's daughter's books, "The Defender of the Empire" series. Though the focus may be on the young adult reader these stories work for all age groups interested in fast-paced and exciting plots.

Kudos to the Beery family.

I have just read all 5 of these books. I love them. The th ave a great story line and a great adventure in each book. Each character is very likeable, and very necessary. to the story. With a complete history of their own, that makes all the books. A complete story on their own. I highly recommend these books for a great read . As soon as you finish one you want to start another one. Happy reading.

This was a very well written book, albeit a tad confusing. It appeared as though DeAza forgot a couple times that Julianne was from the thirties. Aside from a few more plot holes, this book was great. Definitely read it.

Best one of the three in this series!

I read all three books and this series and found this one to be the best of the three. Book one's characters seemed immature and book three I didn't see a connection. Amina and Jaxon's characters had a connection and chemistry along with some maturity. Not saying their relationship was perfect and they didn't act petty at times. Overall this was a pretty good read.

In this, the first in-depth study of the group, Amy Brandt argues that neoconceptualism is the most precise name for their work. Brandt sees it as an art about art history, characterized by ironic adaptations of past artistic movements and styles, a tendency toward visual interplay, and a theoretical impulse driven by postmodern concerns with intertextuality, deconstruction, and poststructuralism.

Brandt investigates the East Village art scene of the 1980s and argues that the neoconceptualists' theoretical orientation distinguished them from other artists of the era. Too much text not enough art. Boring. This is an art book right? Where's the rest of the art? Looks like some artists refused to put their art in this book. I am neither inspired or excited by this book. You are better off looking up neoconceptual art under Google images. I dont want this book on my shelf.

Worth every word.

The Phantom Badgers is a thoroughly unique series that you should read if you are a fan of military space opera, well-thought out fantasy, or books that are simply excellent. As is my wont, this review is for every book in the series but with an emphasis on this most recent book. I highly recommend this series.

Earlier books in this series have been compared to Glen Cook's the Black Company series, That's not quite accurate. I'm looking at that entire series on my bookshelf right now, and the Phantom Badgers is different and I think much better. It's certainly more detail-oriented and planned out, but done in such a way that it's never tedious. Perhaps some other comparison might include Mercedes Lackey's By The Sword, except that fine book is much lighter, or parts of Elizabeth Moon's The Deed of Paksennarion, which comes the closest but focuses on one character instead of the Phantom Badger's ensemble cast.

And what a cast! Finally, someone writes dwarves in such a way that they don't come across as drunken, ill-tempered, greedy Scotsmen (the last is fine . . . but the rest!) and establishes an solid backstory to them. The evil races actually make sense - sorry, Forgotten Realms, but tell me exactly what the purpose is of the Sahuagin? Oh, that's right, we needed an evil race that lived under water. But Krpoun's Felher, Direthrell, goblins, orcs, and evil cults actually seem to be clearly defined enemies with history and purposes, and they all make credible threats to the protagonists.

Not only that, but everybody is reasonable, acts according to believable motives, and doesn't screw up simply for the sake of moving the plot along. The Phantom Badger's trademarks are careful planning and discipline, and that's how everything works out for them. Their enemies also plan and plot, and where they are foiled it is because of the Badgers' higher quality and better use of their resources but not their own stupidity. Good guys die, but not in the "let's kill a character for shock value" way but rather because the nature of combat means that not everybody survives. All of the Badgers are unique - I actually remember Durek and Kroh and Janna and Arian and Rolf and Starr and Elonia and Maximillian, and their backstories, what sets them apart, what their skills are, etc, and I don't think that I've ever read a series with so many viewpoint characters that manages to flesh out each individual nearly as well.

The writing is excellent. While Krpoun doesn't have any particular literary flourishes that might make his prose extremely memorable, (Hi, Simon R. Green) he also doesn't have any distracting literary flourishes that detract from his solid work. (Hi again, Simon R. Green.) The editing is excellent and there are virtually no errors. The book flows well and I read all five books (which are of reasonable length) in less than a week.

Takeaway: You should take this book away to your Kindle, and read it. Start with the first. If you've made it to this page and are reading this review, then you will like this series.

I like this series it started out well, unfortunately we have moved to the point of red shirts. No major characters were harmed in the making of this book however if you just joined the company then high chance you will die. It wont be a great death or a remembered death "and 4 snuffed it but they were newbs so......"

Yet another great story about the Phantom Badgers. I really enjoy the dark fantasy setting, it has a great deal of real depth in its background. I have recommended it to friends and am eagerly looking forward to seeing the next story.

Biligual in Russian and English, but not about Russian flowers

When I was in Russia, I was told stories about so many wildflowers - fairy tales and lost loves, etc. So I thought this little book would repeat these stories. But instead, the 10 flowers in the book are "from around the world" as the author states in her preface. A few may be found in Russia I suppose - buttercup, dandelion, bellflower. But I was disappointed that with all the beautiful wildflowers found in Russia, this book was not about them. Incidentally, the tale told about the dandelion says it is an Native American tale. Dandelions came from Europe, but there are some flowers similar to dandelions that are native to North America, so I can forgive this.

About the Author
Larry Correia is hopelessly addicted to two things: guns and B-horror movies. He has been a gun dealer, firearms instructor, accountant, and is now a very successful writer. He shoots competitively and is a certified concealed weapons instructor. His first novel, Monster Hunter International, is now in its sixth printing, and has been followed by Monster Hunter Vendetta, Monster Hunter Alpha, and Monster Hunter Legion. Fast Moving Yarn

I recently read Monster Hunter International by Larry Corriea. I have to tell you I waffled on buying this book. I mean I had this fear of Night of the Living Dead, Zombie Apocolypse stuff that was poorly written and didn't fit into anything that interested me. But, I read some of the reviews and I picked up on Larry's website and I thought I would take a shot at it. So, I duly brought up my Amazon account, and ordered the book. At the same time, I was ordering a bunch of other stuff so I thought of it as kind of a impulse buy.

Best impulse buy that I ever made. The book is a page turner, and one I had a hard time putting down. There is little or no, slow spots in the read. From the first few pages this thing moves the plot along quickly and efficiently, introducing characters as necessary and providing just the right level of detail to set the visuals of the situation.

Is the plot predictable? Maybe at times but for the most part it twists and turns, and just when you think it is going to go straight on for a bit, it pulls a wild left turn and zig zags all over the place.

Larry pulls in aspects of many different historical cultures and weaves them almost seamlessly into the story telling . Sorry Larry, there were a couple of abrupt points so you don't get the full seamless comment. However, I think that they abruptness may have been appropriate to the scene on occasion.

I wish I could write a story that is half as entertaining, and half as well written.

This is a damn fine book that you need to go out and read.

It's your average, everyday Wednesday evening; I had just stopped by to pick up the latest issue of the Wellsboro Gazette. Suddenly, I found myself able to fulfill the American dream. No, not the one with the nude roller derby girls, the other "American" dream. I got to run over my boss. Understand, I felt obligated to burn hot rubber across his hairy back. No, I didn't wake up that morning and plan on killing my boss with my Subaru. It's really much more complicated than that. I would never have considered doing something that sounded so crazy. Heck, I work in a bookstore. My idea of danger is getting a paper cut. I didn't want to save the world. I didn't want to have to replace my headlight. I didn't want my insurance rates to skyrocket. I didn't want to know my boss was a werewolf...

It turns out that monsters are real, and that's why I found myself devouring Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia. Creatures from myth, legend, and B-movies are out there. Lurking in the shadows, seeking our destruction, or just plain hungry. Monster Hunter International is the number one agency for eradication of evil.

Our story starts with one Owen Zastava Pitt. He's your average, everyday working stiff. He just wants to work hard, get himself a wife and 2.5 kids, and settle in the suburbs, but when his boss literally tries to bite his head off, Owen is thrust into a world that he never knew existed - a world where monsters are exist, and there is good money to be made killing them. Welcome to Monster Hunter International.

MHI,a remarkable group of misfits that has banded together. They do more than dare to raise a candle to the darkness. They pack napalm-fed flamethrowers and lots of firepower. There's specialized body armor, big guns with unusual ammunition, and bloodsucking fiends. You'll also find some likable, well-developed heroes that bleed, and a full-speed action yarn that's funny as Hades.

I picked up this first novel because it sounded like a fun, fast read, and it is. Larry is a certified weapon instructor and it shows in his writing. He knows guns and weapons and he likes to blow things up, and have a lot of fun doing it. He also loves B movies, and has a twisted sense of humor, and it all makes for a highly entertaining read. It's not perfect. There are some rough spots, and at 452 pages, it's a little longer than is needed. The action slows down after a great intro that grabs your attention, but quickly jumps back to the fight. If you like SF, military fiction, or horror, you'll find yourself staying up late at night to finish, and anticipating the next novel. You aren't going to find MHI on the New York Times bestseller list, or Oprah any time soon, but maybe she should lock and load and lighten up...

Fair Disclosure: I consider Larry Correia to be a friend. I'm going to try to give as unbiased a review as possible (and anyone who knows me--which almost no-one who reads this review will--knows I'm likely to be even more brutally honest about my friends than anyone else) but you may feel free to take this review with a grain of salt.

I'm giving MHI a solid 4.5 stars. Amazon doesn't allow that, so I went with 4 to give as much warning as possible. I read a lot. I read a lot of science-fiction. (Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle) I read a decent amount of military fiction. (David Drake, John Ringo) I read a moderate amount of horror. (Poppy Z. Brite, Richard Matheson) Correia does a good job of tickling all of those interests.

It's not a perfect book. It has some rough spots, as any first time author will. But I've read MHI 3 times, and laughed out loud each time I've read it. It still inspires "sit down and read through" marathons. For those who like books that keep the tension factor up, and don't mind a bit of scary and gruesome, this book is a fine addition to your library. I was fortunate enough to be on the "pre-distribution" list, and sat and read the entire book the first run through, and have done so each of the subsequent times I've read it in published form.

It's not perfect, but it's real close, and a darn fine read. I eagerly anticipate reading about the further adventures of Owen Zastava Pitt, and the folks at Monster Hunter International.

Llevaba mucho tiempo buscando un libro que me orientara de forma sencilla sobre cómo montar, organizar y poner en marcha un estudio fotográfico en mi hogar.

La mayoría de libros eran demasiado complejos y difíciles de entender. Gracias a este libro de Amber Richards pude solventar todas mis dudas y aprender de manera fácil y eficaz los mecanismos y pasos necesarios para poder poner en práctica todas estas técnicas.

Me ha gustado mucho la forma en que se desarrollan los contenidos. Aparte de lo puramente teórico, en el libro te explican casos reales y también te plantean los problemas que suelen aparecer mientras estás trabajando con sus correspondientes soluciones.

Es un libro que plasma muy bien todo lo que necesitas para ser un buen fotógrafo de estudio y como desarrollar esa labor en tu propia casa. Montar un estudio se convierte en una tarea sencilla y divertida gracias a este libro.

Enhorabuena a Amber Richards porque firma un muy buen libro. Lo recomiendo a cualquier persona que sea una apasionada de la fotografía de estudio. Personalmente me ha sorprendido gratamente y le pondría una nota de SOBRESALIENTE.

Información útil y fácil de asimilar

Amber Richards tiene una gran capacidad para entregar información útil de forma resumida, aunque también muy completa. Este libro puede ser muy útil para aquellas personas interesadas en crear un negocio basado en la fotografía. Un negocio de fotografía puede ser una excelente opción para obtener ingresos extra o para desarrollarlo como un proyecto de negocios más grande. Después de leer este libro descubrí que la fotografía no solo se trata de una buena cámara con flash. Existen muchos más componentes y conceptos a considerar si quieres hacer algo serio en este camino.

El libro en general está bien, pero esperaba algún consejo más práctico sobre equipo, plan de negocios, ROI,ventas, etc. Pero no fue así. En general bien pero si tuviera lo que comento sería mucho mejor.
