Ten yards of pulpy goodness

I love old pulp-style stories. Gridiron would feel right at home if David Boop wrote it in the 1940's.
This story has lots of sock-em in the jaw action which reminded me of the old Batman comics. Gridiron is a relentless force, a man who takes no prisoners when he takes on the mobsters that killed his dreams.
The story switches between the present and a count-up from six months ago to today, ending with a boffo finale that satisfies.
