Donnie is a SEXY BEAST

Rock Bottom by K Webster is the third book in The Vegas Aces series and in my opinion the best so far. All of the characters go through TREMENDOUS change, and it’s beautiful and sad at times. You may want to punch a few people in the face, but someone might do that for you in book four! In RB you watch as Donnie gets cast aside as all his band mates get married and start a family, Donnie has always been the partier, drugs, sex, and rock n roll. With the most important people in his life moving on they don’t notice him drowning until he hits rock bottom, but someone sees him. The person who helped him through one of the most special and important day of his life, they were never supposed to meet. Call it fate or coincidence or just right time, right place. Though Donnie has always been skilled on hiding his true feeling and pain Nora can see right through it, she’s like her mom in that sense. Something about Donnie calls to Nora in every way. She shouldn’t want him, he’s the total opposite of her and every man she’s ever dated, she convinces herself it’s not about love, but about saving him. Nora saves people every day, it’s her job but saving Donnie isn’t just her doing her job, no matter what she tells herself there’s more there than wanting to save his life, she sees all the broken parts of him and she’s determined to put him back together. There are major bumps in the road and Nora sees just how deep his pain really goes. Everyone and everything seems to want them apart, ride with them on the journey back up into the clouds together, come hell or high water this momma bear is determined to NEVER let anyone hurt this man again, even if love never came into the picture, what they share and their strong connection Nora will never let this man sink again, even if the people in his life are too blind to see it. The end of this story was beautiful and happy; they know how special it is because they’ve had to fight so hard for it.

Rock Bottom by K Webster is a part of the Vegas Aces series, however, this could be read as a standalone. IF you’ve read the first two books in this series then you’ve journeyed with Donnie through the ups and downs of his friends and bandmates falling in love and finding their happily ever after. But, if you’re reading this book as your first foray into the Vegas Aces, K. Webster brilliantly builds the story with just enough backstory to help you understand the past conflicts that affect Donnie.
This book is a fast paced roller coaster ride. With so many twists and turns you won’t know if you are upside down. When the ride comes to an end you will find that you’ve landed on your feet and you loved the ride so much that you want to ride it again.
Donnie Jennings has a lifestyle most men only dream of—a life full of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. In his eyes, there’s not much more he could ever want than banging his drums. And as the hot drummer in one of the hottest Rock Bands in the world he has everything he’s ever wanted. He left behind a rich family and their expectations of following in his father’s footsteps to do what he loves and has passion for his music.
Besides being panty-melting hot, Donnie has an enormous capacity to love and he funnels it into his music and his bandmates. With no family support Donnie is left feeling abandoned and so incredibly alone as his best friends find love, the band no longer being their top priority. Donnie turns to drugs and sex to comfort his loneliness.
My heart broke for Donnie you can feel his pain and as you watch him struggle you want to be the one to reach out to him. You’ll want to cry for him and hug him.

I love the way the author brings these two together. Call it fate or coincidence or just right time, right place.
Enter Nora she has goodness in her and an ability to see the light in other people and a desire to help them heal. From the first time they meet, she is like the sun to him.
She brightens his life and makes him feel as though the future isn’t as dark as it looks. Donnie wants one night with her but Nora is one sassy lady! She will not be another sex escape for Donnie.
Though Donnie has always been skilled on hiding his true feeling and pain Nora can see right through it. She tries to get Donnie out of her head, but she can't. Something about Donnie calls to Nora in every way. She sees the broken man he is inside and wants to be his salvation. She shouldn’t want him, he’s the total opposite of her and every man she’s ever dated, she convinces herself it’s not about love, but about saving him.
Nora saves people every day, it’s her job but saving Donnie isn’t just her doing her job, no matter what she tells herself there’s more there than wanting to save his life, she sees all the broken parts of him and she’s determined to put him back together

Nora is a 911 operator by day but at night we meet a very different Nora with her night job. She is just recently out of a failed relationship and really isn’t looking for a new one. Nora has a no nonsense take no crap from anyone attitude. If there's a problem she has to make it right somehow some way. She's a stand by your man type of woman.
“When I looked into his eyes, I saw a broken man. I saw a man who had damn near hit rock bottom. He’s close.” –Nora
There is a strong connection between Nora and Donnie. As much as Nora tries to stay away from Donnie, they keep running into each other and trouble definitely follows them. Donnie needs help, all of his friends do their best to help him but there is only one person Donnie needs. Can Nora save him?
“I realize it will always be her.” –Donnie
‘This girl, I’ll always chase after her. I want you Nora. Not just in my bed. Once I have you, I’ll never let you go.”-Donnie
Donnie and Nora are smoking hot together. His dirty mouth and her sass will make you laugh out loud. The way they interacted and bantered back and forth keeps you going during the whole book.
“So you’re a good girl. I guess I’ll have fun teaching you how to be bad.” –Donnie
When you hit rock bottom and all is lost that’s when you finally realize what is important. This book is about finding love when you needed it the most. Nora is a strong woman with a savor complex. She wants to save Donnie and she’s going to do whatever she has to do to save and protect him even if she is what it will take to save him.
“Together we’ll be unstoppable. Together we’ll be whole. His heart now belongs to me, and I’ll be damned if I ever let anyone harm it.” –Nora
The emotional roller coaster that I was on while reading this book made it an intense and amazing ride. The sparks between Nora and Donnie were HOT! I was so invested in this book that I almost cried when I finished it. Thankfully there is book four, Rock Out will be Kenny and Daphney’s story and if it’s anything like the other three in this series it will be amazingly awesome!

My Favorite So Far!

Donnie's story.....I could not have been more excited to find out that Donnie was getting his own story. He has been one of my favorite characters since I started reading this series. There was always just something about him that made we want to know more. And the story that I got, was better than I could have imagined!
Rock Bottom follows the story of Donnie and Nora. Donnie has it all: Money, Fame, Women...or so it seems. Deep down Donnie is lost. He sees his band-mates and friends moving on with their lives and starting families of their own. They are so consumed with their own lives that they don't even see that Donnie is slipping, loosing himself to drugs and alcohol. No one seems to care, until he meets Nora....
A chance encounter or maybe it's fate, brings Nora and Donnie together. Their connection is instant and undeniable. They can't fight the pull they have to one another. But sometimes that pull can hurt more than it can help. Nora finds herself on a mission to save Donnie before he truly hits Rock Bottom. Will she be able to save him in time? Will Donnie get the happily ever after that he deserves??
Rock Bottom took me on one heck of a roller-coaster ride. My heart went out to Donnie as I watched him slip away. I just wanted to give him a hug and make it all better. I couldn't have been happier when Nora entered his life. Nora was one tough chick. She didn't want to live in the shadow of her father's life or use his fame/money. She just wanted to make it on her own. The compassion and love that she showed for Donnie, even before she knew him, was amazing. She never gave up on him, even when things were at their worst...
"Even when he hit rock bottom and life tried to tear him down, he bounced around with a smile on his face, hiding the pain underneath. Little did he know that when he found me, he'd never have to hide again. Together, there will be no rain. Only sunshine"
This story broke my heart at times, but I had faith that K. Webster wouldn't keep me feeling that way for long. She gave a different, more serious side to Donnie. One that people rarely saw. A side so lost and full of pain and made me love this character more than I thought possible. We finally get to see Donnie for who he really is and watch him fight for life, love and his happily ever after.
K. Webster gave me everything that I wanted in Donnie's story and more. This was one of those books for me that I tried very hard to read slowly, all because I didn't want it to end. But, let me tell you, by the time I got to the epilogue, I had the biggest smile on my face!! Why? You'll have to read it yourself and see...........
