Get this, you won't go wrong

There are 4 stages to learning: Unconsciously incompetent, where you have no idea what you don't know; Consciously incompetent, where you know you have a lot to learn; Consciously competent, where you can do what you need to do, but it takes work; and Unconsciously competent, where you don't even think about the technique any more. If you're reading this, you're at least to stage two. Congratulations.
This book deserves the highest praise I can give a book of instruction: it does exactly what it claims to do. But you still have to put in the work. There is no magic pill for talent. But this book provides a way of thinking about how to break down the learning process into manageable bites.
And don't forget: once you learn something new, play it in a song, not just endless scales. That's how you get good.
