Currently, a student at Southern New Hampshire University studying for a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing/English. Often writing humor, research articles for her blog www.survivingdystopia.com and post-apocalyptic fiction, she can be found in front of a computer somewhere. When asked about what kind of writer she is, she says, “The starving kind. Believing that writing is an ART, often times one must sacrifice to maintain the artistic integrity of the works.” She works in and around the Cincinnati, Ohio area flipping houses and spends much of her time in the areas of Kentucky she writes about in the Dystopia books. Don't let poor editing stop you from reading this...

As others have stated, the lack of editing was obvious; HOWEVER, I found the story itself interesting enough to (mostly) overlook the editorial issues. What I did get out of the story was that the writer had a desire to share some very practical knowledge with her readers, in order that they, hopefully, will be better prepared for trouble in the future. I've been a prepper for a while (and have even published a book for amateur preppers) and still learned a few things...which is why I read books like this. One thing learned might be the thing that saves your life in a SHTF situation. If you like this genre of fiction, I would encourage you to read this. Yes, as someone else stated, they didn't run into as much adversity as one would imagine, but the story is based upon a group of people most of whom ARE preppers. Their preparedness has helped them to avoid some of the possible problems inherent in a scenario such as this. I appreciate that the author provides some preparedness information and links at the end of the book. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel when it is released.

This was a great little story

This was a great little story. I very much enjoyed reading it. It did seem to sway towards a happy view of life post crisis. The group did not seem to encounter any significant issues that one might expect in an end of world type scenario. But that could also be attributed to the incredible preparation the characters in the story had taken in their lives. Some of the grammar was a little choppy and hard to follow on occasion, but it did not distract from the overall enjoyment of reading the story.

DJ Cooper has hit a home run with Dystopia: The Beginning of the End. The more I read, the harder it was to put down. It only took as long as it did for me to read it because I am busy working on writing my own sequel. The characters are complex and yet easy to relate to. For any avid reader this book is a must read and I look forward to much more from DJ Cooper. Well done.
