RV instruction Manual

If you want to know exactly how to park, set up and whatever....an RV this is the book for you. I tried, I honestly tried, I read 40% thinking there has got to be more to this. Every time they park the RV the author describes every step, I mean every step to backing up, leveling, operating the sliders, everything, every time they park it. Then reverse that for every time they pull out. The dialog between the husband and wife is so stilted, and formal there is no way these people have been married any length of time. After the 5th time of parking can’t you just say the set the darn thing up? Every time they took the dog out the poor man got the leash and the poop bag, ok already we understand that the dog has to be on a leash and even at the end of the world you have to pick up your dog’s poop. I have been camping numerous times with a tents, cabins, a pop up and a pull behind and thoroughly enjoyed it, but come on, just filling the pages with the same words over and over. Sorry, ranting now. Maybe the next one will let all that stuff go. I’ll never find out.

What One Expects

Three pages in there are subject-verb agreement errors, incorrect use of the pronouns 'she' and 'her', numerous commas especially when using 2 independent clauses and short, 4th grade level sentence structure. Also, as an aside, what is it about SHTF stories that the characters must have one syllable names???? Whew. That being said, I kept reading because of the RV angle.
After finishing this first installment I have to lower my rating. This storyline has such great potential for a disaster story. But this is at best a rough draft. There was no character development other than stereotypes. Preppers are really trashed. And the writing got even worse. Every hook up, slides out, slides in, dog walked is included. For example:
Frank walked over to fridge, opened the door, and pulled out the cat and dog food cans.
He brought them over to the counter, and got down two bowls.
He filled them , and set them down.
The dog and cat scampered over and started eating.
Frank got up, picked up a poop bag from the cupboard above the dinette, and then got Lucy's leash attached.
He followed Lucy down the steps with coffee cup in hand.
She was in a hurry to get to the patch of grass next to the concrete slab they were parked on.
These mundane actions are repeated and repeated. I will not be buying any more "volumes" in the series. But it's still a great idea for a TEOTWAWKI book.

~~Who Should You Trust?~~

Finally I start at the beginning of this series! I wanted to know the reason that Frank and Jane hit the road at the beginning. I feel it is an interesting glimpse into the RV life, as well, as the country's problems that are intensifying.
The question of 'Who should you trust?' is brought up and this aspect is so true. Best not to get close to strangers in a situation like this one.
If you are the grammar police, this one is not for you. If you like camping out with family and friends, you will like this one. Despite the state of our country, it contains a lot of information on setting up your RV. And, this is said as I look out my window and see mine covered with a tarp and way too much snow on the top of it! Hurry up, spring.
Will read on to Part 2.
